What is Minecraft: The Journey?
When I started playing Minecraft, I felt like I was late to the party. My friends encouraged me to play it fairly early on in about 2010. They said I'd like it, but I thought it looked silly! Years later I stumbled across some Hermitcraft videos — the beginning of Season 3 in fact, and I was addicted. I downloaded the game, started playing with friends, and quickly fell in love with the game.
Fast forward a few years and I was making some content for Zedcraft (Zedaph's Patreon server) and when talking to other players, realised how much of Minecraft's history I had missed out on by not playing the game earlier!
MCTJ was conceived from the idea that I could go back in time and play all of Minecraft's versions from the start, start a new world and then explore the game release by release, discovering new changes, blocks, items and adventures just as the community did all those years ago.
Since then I've learned so much about this game, its history and its quirks, made friends within the community and enjoyed releasing content for everyone to enjoy.
I hope the series will continue to run for a long time. I know that there are times when episodes come out slowly, but that's because real life happens around me and I can't dedicate all of my time to just this series. Many people have joked that I'll never reach the modern version in this series because I'm exploring it more slowly than when the releases actually came out, but I like to take my time with these releases, exploring each bug and quirk in detail. It's just how I prefer to approach it.
